You scream, I scream, we all scream for new screens

My new Kindle was kind of an impulse purchase, but I have no regrets.

I am very happy with my new Kindle, which I think is the fourth that I have owned.

My previous Kindle was a 4GB Paperwhite, purchased in May 2018, nearly four years ago. The new one is the basic entry-level model, but it’s really got everything the Paperwhite had back in 2018 — and it has 8GB storage, not that I was anywhere near filling up the 4GB Paperwhite.

The main problem with the Paperwhite was that its battery was starting to go. Normally, a Kindle can go for weeks between charges; mine was down to needing a charge every few days, and it would lose charge even if it wasn’t being used. It also had a weird quirk where the (optional) backlight would sometimes turn on but not always. If it did not come on, you would have to open up the settings as if you were going to adjust the brightness. As soon as you got to the brightness control, the light would come on.

I had toyed with trading in the Paperwhite on a new Kindle but it wasn’t a priority. But I am a subscriber to the Amazon “Treasure Truck” — each day, they send your phone a text message with some great value.
