Wendy Bagwell was a comedian as well as a singer, and some of their live albums feature his stories, which were actually quite entertaining. My father worked at a southern gospel station in the late 1970s and sat next to Wendy, who was the keynote speaker, at the station's anniversary banquet. My favorite story of his had to do with playing in a small church which turned out to be one of those that believes in snake handling. They didn't know this until after the service had started and the snakes were brought out. One of the female singers turned to Wendy and whispered, "Where's the back door to this place?" "I already looked, and there ain't one." "Reckon where do they *want* one?"
