My new LAMY Safari fountain pen, with a subtle, subconscious promotional message.

As I posted the other day, I am tentatively exploring the world of fountain pens — right now, I am in the inexpensive end of the pool. No Montblancs for me!

In the previous post, I noted that I had bought an AmazonBasics fountain pen for $10. I have had so much fun learning to write with it, and even experimenting with a little bit of art:

I didn’t really start doing research until after ordering the Amazon pen, however. I discovered that there’s a highly-rated, and I think fun-looking, starter pen called the LAMY Safari. It seemed like a reasonable expense to have a second pen. I also discovered The Goulet Pen Company, a highly-regarded, family-owned dealer of fountain pens (and producer of lots of instructional videos, video reviews, etc.)
