I am not a number — I am a free man!

Early on in the quarantine, I posted a list of recommended movies for your shut-in viewing pleasure.

Last night, I realized I should have shared something completely different — a TV show, one I’ve blogged about in the past, and yet, one that’s completely appropriate for our current national mood of cabin fever and our interest in binge-watching favorite shows.

You can watch it without commercials if you have Amazon Prime.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you … “The Prisoner.”

Those of you my age and older may or may not remember this series, but a lot of you who are younger than me have never heard of it, which is a shame. It was decades ahead of its time. “The Prisoner” was a British-made drama which also aired here in the U.S., on ABC.

Patrick McGoohan starred in and executive produced the show. It may or may not have been a sequel to “Secret Agent” (a/k/a “Danger Man”), his previous TV series. McGoohan always claimed that his unnamed character in “The Prisoner” was definitely NOT John Drake of “Secret Agent.” But he had a financial interest in saying that; if it were John Drake, McGoohan would have had to share his creator credit with the man who created the “Secret Agent” TV show.
