Clam chowder
Today’s Sunday afternoon kitchen project…
A few weeks back, I discovered Glen Powell, a food blogger from Toronto, Ontario, who publishes, on Facebook and YouTube, under the name “Glen & Friends Cooking.” He’s fun and easy to watch, and has good recipes. His (I assume!) wife always joins him to taste the finished dish. He apparently first came to fame preparing recipes from a vintage Canadian cookbook, but has expanded beyond that.
Anyway, just in the past week Facebook showed me one of his recipes from April, for a seafood chowder. Here it is on YouTube:
The recipe as cooked on the video includes several different types of seafood, but the ingredient list at the end of the video is for a straight clam chowder.
I love clam chowder, and it’s one thing I’ve never made myself. I’ve always wanted to try Alton Brown’s recipe, which uses a combination of canned clams and fresh ones (the fresh ones, in their shell, are perched atop the finished bowls as a garnish, while their cooking liquid is added to the soup for flavor).
